Silver Columns
Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
In a year of electronic quality, one of the more unexpected successes has come from a pair of artists (Johnny Lynch and Adem Ilhan) more renowned for their involvement in the folk-scene. Yes, and me, will probably be one of this year's highlights as we sit down at year-end with the mulled wine and discuss who was decent and who wasn't. (more...)

Led Zeppelin – Overrated?
Sunday, May 30th, 2010
Led Zeppelin- 70s Brit-rockers and patron saints of complex and stirring rock compositions, probably best known for the holy grail of vague rock ballads ‘Stairway To Heaven’ and various other master classes of hard rock wizardry. The Godfathers of stoner rock, the religious icons of at least one friend who spends his entire life baked, and a bottomless pit of dogshit retro rock bands across the globe. The Darkness, anyone? Oh, and possibly the inadvertent forbearers of Nickelback (okay, maybe that’s a bit harsh). B Dolan
Thursday, May 6th, 2010
Talk about a real man in the true sense of the word. When I say RESPECT here, I mean full RESPECT. Bernard Dolan had escaped my radar somehow up until this point but now he’s on the Underrated list thanks to a splendid album.
Fallen House, Sunken City is a modern Hip-Hop gem but is it even Hip-Hop? Is the man rapping, clowning or even a troubadour? One thing’s for certain, he’s one to watch. The creator of Knowmore.org, he is a man with a true passion for enlightening the social conscience. His site allows consumers to know brands for their positive and negative practices, whether it is child-labour or even outstanding employee support. His musical offerings hence are laced with this steadfast criticism of a world with its priorities way out of wack.
Songs like Marvin give you a great sense of the streetscape B Dolan loves to work in, and if anything Alias’ production is brilliant in its simplicity. Unlike the simple piano melodies that prance along in the previous track, other tracks like Border Crossing have the deep brooding tones that suit the subject matter perfectly.
This isn’t for everyone, but for any of those who pulled out the Wu-Tang jackets for their recent concerts this is a must.

That Bieber kid
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
As if he's UNDERRATED! Nope, it's times like these where I just rub my palms together and thank god that the media put up puppets like this. Just like the Hanson boys and New Kids on the Block, this young chap will make a motza in the next year then turn into a rather awkward looking teen who holds on to the few minutes of fame he once had.
