So Overrated – Jeggings

They're not jeans, they're not leggings... you got it, their 'jeggings'! If the skinny denims weren't already enough, the jegging, made of a combo of cotton, polyester, and spandex provides you with that super sexy painted-on look that is so rarely achieved without the loss of circulation. Having made their debut earlier this Spring Summer, the jegging has been spotted from the catwalk to the most fast fashion retailers and magazines around the globe.
The jegging is a fashion faux pas, combining two big no no's in fashion: 1. Jeans that are too tight for your body 2. Leggings as an acceptable replacement for pants. OK, leggings have a place and purpose, but this combo takes it one step too far - combining the true wardrobe staple with what is in fact sports or hosiery attire.
Short lived trends like the jegging are nothing more than a fashion hoax.. It's like the tale of the Emperor's new clothes...you know the one who was made a fool to believe that he was wearing beautifully crafted clothes, when in fact he was clearly naked. Similarly, we are told to believe that this trend is fashionable, that it looks good on us, when really, deep down we all know that it's a falsehood. Yet why do we perpetuate it? Like the emperor, we don't want to discredit our favorite designers or question the style makers who every season decide what we buy and wear.
My advice, you decide your fashion fate. Go check them out for yourself, but please ensure when you try them on you take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror and most importantly, ask your mother. No doubt she was a victim of something similar in the 80s, but hopefully today has the wisdom and better judgement to save you from being made a fashionable fool.

Jeggings - not new except for the name. Around in the 80s, were "cool" as opposed to "hot", rapidly cooled to frigid, and went straight into the bin. Not even Vinnie's would have them, let alone Vintage. That's how they've crept in again, they were erased from collective memory. Let's do it again and watch them re-appear in another 20 years. The tragic ghosts of jeggings.

You must be really overweight or something.
I LOVE THEM,
really comfy,
with all the right curves.
But then, I wear 5" spikes almost every day too.
Too bad you can't see the fun in them.

Jeggings are so wrong, just plain right tacky.
